The University of Toronto (UT), Canada’s oldest varsity, was established in 1827.

It currently has 59 389 students enrolled. There are 11365 faculty members and an annual budget of C$1.1 Billion (Rs.4,620 Crore). Located downtown Toronto, UT consistently ranks as Canada’s number one research university according to the Tornoto-based Macleans. UT was also recently ranked 24th out of 500 top universities worldwide by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Higher Education. It is also the highest ranking Canadian university. UT was 29th on the Times Higher Education Supplement’s annual list of the top 200 varsities.

University of Toronto is a varsity that offers the broadest range of academic programmes in Canada. It has three campuses in Toronto: Scarborough, Mississauga, and St. George. One hundred and seventeen academic divisions of the university offer over 300 study programs and more than 2,000 courses in business, arts, sciences, or business. This campus offers both undergrad and graduate programmes. 32 km east of Toronto lies the University of Toronto Scarborough. The university offers more 200 programmes in over 80 areas of study. This campus is nestled in 330 acres lush parklands. It houses 9,000 full time students. With more than 30 libraries holding more 15 million items, the three campuses are North America’s third largest library system. Access to a wealth online resources such as ejournals and indexes can be found on the UT libraries website. All campuses have state-ofthe-art recreation and sports facilities. Two swimming pools are available at the St. George campus. Also, the facility has eight gymnasia, ten squash courts and eight indoor tennis courts. It also houses a multipurpose court for badminton. Basketball, volleyball and badminton. A dance studio is available. There’s also a cardio area, fencing hall, cages and a gym. The university boasts over 300 student clubs. Additional facilities on campus include a bookstore, pharmacy, cafes, an international student centre, and a pharmacy.
